Maine recently outlawed same day voter registration, one of many voter suppression laws based by Republican state legislatures this year. Today Mainers are voting on a referendum poised to roll this back.
From the Press Herald:
Question 1 asks voters whether they want to overturn a new law banning same-day voter registration in Maine. Supporters say same-day registration makes the state vulnerable to fraud. Opponents contend that working people don’t always have time to make multiple trips to the election office, so the law would limit Mainers’ ability to vote in elections.
Being that Jay is in Maine, I’m sure we’ll talk about this on tonight’s Panda Show.
Also, Mother Jones is reporting that Maine’s Governor now wants to drug test welfare recipients. Remember, if you don’t have a job in the New Depression, you’re a morally bankrupt crackhead.
