Rick Perry announced his economic plan:
GRAY COURT, S.C. — Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry proposed a sweeping economic plan Tuesday that includes a flat tax proposal, private retirement accounts for Social Security, a lower corporate tax rate and reforms aimed at keeping Medicare solvent.
Much like Herman Cain’s plan, I don’t think this merits and serious scrutiny. The take away from this is the reminder that all Republican plans are regressive and harm the 99%. Taxing the 1% and corporations even less than the historically low taxes they already pay is only going to exacerbate the inequality problem in the US. Destroying Social Security and Medicare and tossing people to the mercy to the private market will guarantee profits for large corporations and ensure that you and I will get the shaft.
The GOP candidates can go back and forth on which plan dismantles the New Deal the quickest or which plan favors the 1% more, but all the plans suck if you’re a member of the 99%.
